Granger's got Talent

****Please note the UPDATED Audition Dates****

It’s that time again….Talent Show! This year, the Talent Show will be Friday, May 18th at 1:15pm. Students may sing, dance, do a comedy act, perform a skit, play an instrument, show off their illusionist skills…the sky’s the limit! Here are a few guidelines and a bit of information as students prepare:

  • Only 4th and 5th graders may audition

  • The act may not be longer than 3.5 minutes.

  • As few as 1 student and up to 8 students may be in any one act. Also, students may audition for more than one act, but will only be chosen to perform in one act at the Talent Show.

  • Animals will NOT be permitted in any act.

  • Each auditioning act must submit the following items BEFORE auditioning:

    These items can be found on the music teachers’ doors and on the Granger

    Music web site. Students will NOT be allowed to audition without these forms.

    • An Act Information Sheet (on Mrs. Server’s door – 1 per act)

    • Permission Slip/Contract (on this letter or Granger Music site)

  • Regarding all music:

    • Music must be brought by the student via CD, MP3 player or emailed to the music teachers at least 48 hours in advance of their audition. No music will be played from YouTube or other internet playing sites. The music teachers will not be responsible to download or burn CDs for individuals or groups.

    • Music must be approved by the music teachers as clean and appropriate and non-censored no later than Mon. April 2nd-9th.  This is for ALL audition acts: singing, dancing, or background music, etc. Please bring in a sheet with the lyrics and a way for teachers to also hear the music.

    • Music must be pre-cut to the 3.5 min. time limit. The music teachers will not start and stop music at requested times or make your music cuts.

  • Parents must screen their student(s) act for preparedness and appropriateness before the 1st round of auditions and lyrics must be turned in to music teachers no later than April 2nd for approval!

  • Round 1 auditions will take place in class the week of April 16-20th .

  • Round 2 (Final) auditions will take place Thursday, May 3rd and each student will be given an audition time after school and are encouraged to wear their costumes.  Costumes need not be elaborate and expensive.

  • All auditions are CLOSED (only judges and music teachers will be allowed during the audition).

  • Round 2 results are final will be posted outside the music teacher’s doors on Friday, May 4th before the end of the day.

  • Talent Show performance Day:

    • The show will start at 1:15 and students in the show will be called at 1:00. There is only 10 minutes and limited space to change into costumes.

    • All props and costumes will need to be brought to school on the day of the Talent Show.
