Granger Inclement Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather or a school emergency which would result in early dismissal, late arrival of students or the closing of schools, the district will notify the community by:

  • Contacting families using the School Messenger notification system which:
    • Calling parent phone numbers (home and cell)
    • Sending out text messages using Remind app
  • Posting on our Granger Facebook and Twitter sites
  • Posting a message on the campus website homepage

*Please note that we open schools unless you are notified otherwise via the methods above.

In the event of a lightning storm, we will hold students in the building until the lightning passes. Parents can either wait in their car or come into the front of the building to pick up their children.

Please note on days that we have heavy rainfall, students will not be counted tardy.

  • Depending on the amount of rain that is falling, the school will either dismiss students from inside or proceed as normal.

The beginning of school is a great time for proactive parents to help promote a safe student experience through a few simple actions:

Learn the school's emergency procedures. Emergency plans and phone numbers are usually included in school handbooks and posted in classrooms. Taking a few extra minutes to familiarize yourself and your child with emergency information can give him the confidence he needs to act quickly in emergency situations.

Know travel routes to and from the school. Make sure you and your child know both primary and alternate routes. In an emergency, roads can be blocked and it's important to have a backup plan.

Know and follow school security and safety measures. These might include signing in when visiting the school, being escorted when walking through the building, or wearing a visitor pass. Following these procedures also sets a great example for your kids.
