Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Morning Arrival
School instructional hours are from 7:40 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. Students may enter the building at 7:20 a.m. and report to their classrooms. Parents are asked to escort their students to the front door or drop them off in the car rider line. We have faculty and student leaders who will gladly see that your student arrives at their classroom door. Anyone other than students entering the secured building must sign in at the front office. Teachers will not be available to conference with parents before school begins as they have many duties and responsibilities at this time necessary to assure student safety. If a conference is needed, please email your students teacher to schedule a conference time. Exceptions to this rule must be approved by the principal.
Parents may drop off and pick up their students in the assigned car rider line beginning at 7:20 a.m. for drop off and 3:05p.m. for pick up. We will have teachers available to assist your student if necessary. Older students are encouraged to exit the car independently instead of sitting and waiting for assistance as this slows down the line. Also we encourage you to give your hugs and goodbyes at home and have your students ready to exit the cars as soon as possible. Please take into consideration the fact that we have 670+ students on campus and all of these suggestions expedite the drop off process. Car rider visor signs will be furnished for you by the school and the expectation is that they be displayed for pickup. If you do not have a current school sign, you will be asked to come in and sign out your child in the office. Car riders with last names beginning with A-L will be dropped off/picked-up in the back car rider line on the south side of the school. Students with names beginning M-Z will be dropped off/picked-up in the front of the school in the designated drive through area. Please understand that if you get in the wrong line, you will be asked to drive around to the correct line as your children will be waiting for you in that area. The inside lane next to the curb in the front car rider line will be blocked off with cones from 7:00 a.m. until 7:15 a.m. for bus unloading and from 2:00 p.m. until they load and depart. Once the cones are removed you may pull forward. The front drive through will be blocked off to parents wishing to park and walk their students to the building. These parents will park at the curb surrounding the school and walk their children to the building following cross walk and safety rules. Exceptions will be vehicles displaying a legal handicap designation. At no time should parents walk their children across the car rider lines as this is extremely unsafe. Even though the lines may appear lengthy, they move very quickly and efficiently with your cooperation. Once we get the routine established, usually 3-4 days, the average wait time is 10 minutes. Parents parking in the parking spaces in the front drive through before 7:15 will have to remain parked until the car rider lines are closed at 7:40. This is to assure the safety of students exiting and entering cars in the drop off/pick up line. If you are carpooling or have children with different last names, please determine in advance which line you will use. Your classroom teacher must be informed of the designation. Consistency in using the same line all year will expedite the process. We have consulted NISD safety and security and the Fort Worth Police Department to assist in formulating this plan. We believe it is the best plan to assure your child’s safety. If changes are necessary, we will communicate them to you as quickly as possible. Check our website for a link to our dismissal procedures. At 7:40 a.m. the front lane will re-open for visitor parking. As per district policy, parents dropping students off in the front after this time must park and enter the building with their students and sign in at the front office as they are tardy after 7:40 a.m. At no time should students be dropped off in the front without a parent escort to the office.
Afternoon Dismissal

Walkers will be dismissed to their parents at the doors on the west end of the building by the small playground. This will make it safer for everyone as we can more easily regulate the transfer of students to parents. Parents may sign a waiver giving their children permission to walk home independently. Kinder and 1st graders are only allowed to walk independently with an older sibling (grades 2-5.) These students will be released through the front door in the kindergarten hall. This release process is for true walkers. If you are driving to pick up your child, we ask that you join the car rider line as designated to reduce traffic congestion.
Parents wishing to pick up children before afternoon dismissal must do so before 2:30. Emergency approval is required by administration. Students leaving early for doctor’s appointments may bring in the doctor’s note so that this time away from class does not count against perfect attendance. Students leaving early for reasons other than medical will not be eligible for perfect attendance unless prior approval is received by the administration. Please understand that any time your child misses from school, whether at the beginning or end of the school day, detracts from their academic success. We ask that you value this instructional time by insuring your child is in class and prepared to learn from 7:40-3:05.
Transportation Changes
Parents should inform students and teachers of any changes in end of day transportation plans before school begins in the morning. It is extremely hectic in the office at the end of the day and our greatest fear is that we do not get messages to students in a timely manner. We cannot guarantee delivery of messages after 2:15 p.m. It is imperative that you not leave messages for changes in after school transportation on the teacher’s message system. By district policy, they utilize their phones early morning and during conference and lunch. There is also the possibility that they teacher is absent or in training and the message will not be answered.
